Our Mission

Cowee Farmers Market is committed to nourishing local and surrounding communities by offering an abundance of local, high-quality, fresh vegetables, fruits, botanicals, baked goods, eggs, prepared foods, arts and crafts, and pasture-raised meats.  Our goal is to promote "local living" by creating a community gathering place and consumer source for area farmers, gardeners, artists, crafters, local businesses and organizations.  We are dedicated to educating our community about sustainable farming practices, healthy eating, and buying local.

Why Buy Local?

What's in Season?

What's Happening at the Market This Week?

Dog House Duo, with John Hawk and Phil Myers will entertain on traditional mountain dulcimer and Native American flute.

Care Network (CareNet) will be at the market to fill you in on all their projects.

Local honey is here!  Home gardeners and farmers alike are offering an abundance of luscious produce...Tomatoes, sweet corn, several varieties of beans, zucchini, okra, garlic, onions, summer and winter squash, cabbage, potatoes, strawberries and blueberries as well as an assortment of tasty greens and lettuces.  Come try some home-made lemonade, and pick up a bunch of gorgeous zinnias, gladiolas and sunflowers.  Also be sure to check out our locally handcrafted items, fresh ready-to-cook local trout, jams, wooden spoons, herbs, nursery plants, baked goods, artisan breads, local wool yarns, natural body products, shitake mushrooms, and more.

Come by the Market Information booth to pick up a Local Food Guide and bumper sticker, recipes, market bags, vendor information, and sign up for our newsletter.  And don't forget to ask about becoming a Friend of the Market.  For as little as a $5 donation, you will be able to check out an assortment of entertaining and educational books and DVDs from our Friends of the Market Library, and get a free market bag for signing up!

Don't forget to visit the Cowee Pottery School and other studios inside the Macon Co. Heritage Center (the old school) every Tuesday during the market to sign up for a class, or purchase some artwork or a unique vessel to put those cut flowers in.  And take a peek around back at our Cowee Community Garden.

CFM wants to make sure all of our neighbors have access to fresh, local, healthy produce and prepared foods.  Please help us accept SNAP/EBT and credit/debit cards at the market by donating to our fundraiser HERE.

See you Tuesday!
