What's Happening at the Market This Week?
CFM wants to make sure all of our neighbors have access to fresh, local, healthy produce and prepared foods. Please help us accept SNAP/EBT and credit/debit cards at the market by donating to our fundraiser HERE.
Don't miss the Dog House Duo, with Phil Myers and John Hawk, for some down-home traditional mountain dulcimer tunes. Scott Burns will also be at the market from 5:00 to 7:00 to answer your questions about growing garlic.
Home gardeners and farmers alike are offering an abundance of luscious produce now! Tomatoes and sweet corn are here! Five different varieties of beans, zucchini, okra, garlic, onions, summer squash, cabbage, potatoes, blackberries, strawberries and blueberries are here, as well as an assortment of tasty greens and lettuces. Come try some home-made blackberry tea and lemonade. Pick up a bunch of gorgeous zinnias, gladiolas and sunflowers. Local honey coming soon. Also be sure to check out our locally handcrafted items, fresh ready-to-cook local trout, jams, wooden spoons, herbs, nursery plants, baked goods, artisan breads, local wool yarns, natural body products, shitake and golden chanterelle mushrooms, and more.
Come by the Market Information booth to pick up a Local Food Guide and bumper sticker, recipes, market bags, vendor information, and sign up for our newsletter. And don't forget to ask about becoming a Friend of the Market. For as little as a $5 donation, you will be able to check out an assortment of entertaining and educational books and DVDs from our Friends of the Market Library, and get a free market bag for signing up!
Don't forget to visit the Cowee Pottery School inside the Macon Co. Heritage Center (old Cowee School) every Tuesday during the market to sign up for a class or purchase a unique vessel to put those cut flowers in.
Mark your calendars now for our Corn and Tomato Celebration and Market Fundraiser on August 5. You won't want to miss yummy tomato sandwiches on artisan breads, corn on the cob, specially made corn and tomato prepared foods, and more!
See you Tuesday!
