Our Mission

Cowee Farmers Market is committed to nourishing local and surrounding communities by offering an abundance of local, high-quality, fresh vegetables, fruits, botanicals, baked goods, eggs, prepared foods, arts and crafts, and pasture-raised meats.  Our goal is to promote "local living" by creating a community gathering place and consumer source for area farmers, gardeners, artists, crafters, local businesses and organizations.  We are dedicated to educating our community about sustainable farming practices, healthy eating, and buying local.

Why Buy Local?

What's in Season?

What's Happening at the Market This Week?

The very talented Gary Zimmerman will entertain on hammered dulcimer, fiddle, mandoline, and guitar.

Local honey is here!  Home gardeners and farmers alike are offering an abundance of luscious produce...Tomatoes (including heirlooms), sweet corn, several varieties of beans, okra, garlic, onions, summer and winter squash, cabbage, potatoes, and strawberries, as well as an assortment of tasty greens and lettuces.  Come try some home-made lemonade, and pick up a bunch of gorgeous zinnias or sunflowers.  Also be sure to check out our locally handcrafted items (a whirligig for your garden?), eggs, fresh ready-to-cook local trout, jams, hand-made wooden spoons, herbs, nursery plants, yummy baked goods, artisan breads, natural body products, shitake mushrooms, and more.  Oh, and let's not forget the ice cream!!!

Come by the Market Information booth to pick up a Local Food Guide and bumper sticker, recipes, market bags, vendor information, and sign up for our newsletter.  And don't forget to ask about becoming a Friend of the Market.  For as little as a $5 donation, you will be able to check out an assortment of entertaining and educational books and DVDs from our Friends of the Market Library, and get a free market bag for signing up!

Don't forget to visit the Cowee Pottery School and other studios inside the Macon Co. Heritage Center (the old school) every Tuesday during the market to sign up for a class, or purchase some artwork or a unique vessel to put those cut flowers in.  And take a peek around back at our Cowee Community Garden.

See you Tuesday!
